On April 6, 2017, ORR TURF presented a plan for revitalizing the outdoor athletic/recreational space at ORR High School, naming it the space the Tri-Town Community Athletic Complex.
The Strategic Master Plan was put together by our committee with the help of Kaestle-Boos Associates, and we're pleased to point out that this engineering work has been completed with NO TAXPAYER MONIES; it is purely thanks to our donors.
On April 6, the Old Rochester School Committee moved that ORR TURF shall assemble a Facilities Committee that shall include a liaison member from the School Committee.
The Tri-Town Athletic Complex revitalization shall include:, 2 Artificial Turf full-sized multi-use fields, a new track, spectator seating for events on the track, 2 natural grass multi-use fields, new field LED lighting for two fields that will be more efficient and let off less ambient light (and will work!), new goalposts that meet the current safety standards, irrigation for the natural grass fields, baseball and softball diamonds, better athletic team storage, and a fieldhouse with bathrooms, concession stand and a ticket booth.
This plan will transform the space into a facility the entire Tri-Town will benefit from for a generation or more.
The Facilities Subcommittee has brought a proposal to the School Committee for public financing of much of this strategic plan, including the aforementioned rehab of the main field, track, field lights and renovations to the auditorium. However, there is more that needs to be done for the facility, and that is where you come in. Help us finish the rest of this project that will not be covered by public funds! Whether it be in-kind work or monetary donations, you can be part of a solution that will benefit our Tri-Town community for a generation!
